National Party members and supporters ( left ) are driven off the streets by anti- racists for selling racialist papers in an area notorious for attacks against ethnic minorities
Self-taught as a photographer, Andrew Wiard began his career at Report of London under the guidance of Simon Guttmann, one of the founding fathers of photojournalism from 1920’s Berlin. Since 1975 he has produced an unrivalled body of work as a photographer of radical campaigning and social protest in the UK and worked through Report until 1987.
Since 1988 Andrew has run his own show, but along the way also supplied photographs through Select, as an archive member of Network, and as a founder member of Report Digital. He now distributes stock through his own library ( reportphotos.com ) and Alamy, with print sales through Gallery F.
Between 1975 – 2006 he has been a full time freelance & member of London Freelance Branch NUJ. At various times during these years he represented the NUJ as a member of the Freelance Industrial Council, National Executive Council, the British Photographers’ Liaison Committee, & the British Copyright Council. In 1999 he was a founder member and moderator of the EPUK email list for editorial photographers and in 2005 was a founder of the NUJphoto email list for NUJ photographers.
