FINA Diving Grand Prix, Edinburgh

by Nick McGowan-Lowe

Some sports lend themselves to photography, and others don’t. Diving should really be more interesting than it tends to look on the contact sheet. Luckily, I was talking to a caretaker at the Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh who mentioned that there was a vantage point directly above the ten metre board. 80-200mm wide open in one hand, safety rail in the other, I leaned out, prefocussing on the heads of the divers as they walked onto the board, and shooting in quick bursts when they dived. Four rolls of Super-G 800 pushed two stops, and only one frame I was really happy with.
