Photographer

Anne Bolt, who was a pioneering photo-journalist and NUJ Member of Honour died in December 1996 at the age of 84.

Her work spanned more than 40 years and her career began with a chance purchase of a camera in a South American bar. Anne was also a prime mover for copyright reform, gaining for photographers the same rights to ownership of their material as other creators. Throughout her career in photo-journalism, she campaigned for improvement to the lot of her fellow freelances. Anne served as a member of the NUJ National Executive Council, and chair of the FIC and LFB. The award of Membership of Honour in 1986, she always said, was one of the proudest moments of her life.
