Construction worker above St Pancras Station. The original Barlow Shed will be refitted and re-glazed to form the new international station for Eurostar trains. The station has also been substantially expanded to accommodate domestic rail services as well. The ongoing works around St Pancras and Kingís Cross Railway lands made this one of the busiest and most complex of the CTRL construction sites.
David Cowlard is a London based photographer specialising in architecture and construction. His work has featured in publications such as Blueprint magazine, RIBA Journal, the Architect’s Journal and the Independent magazine. For the last five years he has documented the construction of the new Channel Tunnel Rail Link, one of the largest civil engineering projects in Europe. Despite the scale and complexity of the project it has remained almost invisible to most Londoners. The high-speed rail link will bring Eurostar trains into the newly refurbished St Pancras station and is due to open in November 2007.
