Workers queue at the Qalqiliya checkpoint

checkpoint to return to their homes in Ramalla. The checkpoint was earlier closed after an incident involving a young Palestinian and an Israeli soldier, it remained closed for over 3 weeks. Workers commuting to work had to use alternative checkpoints, a journey ordinarily taking 15 mins now taking over an hour.

Photographer

Nick Grigg has been a freelance photographer for the past 14 years and has worked in Australia, Scotland and London as an editorial photographer shooting mainly portraiture, advertising, and fashion. Previous and current clients include, The Australian Newspaper, FHM, New Woman Magazine, The Scotsman, The Glasgow Herald, The Mail on Sunday, The Guardian and various middle-eastern publications. More recently, Nick has been focussing on documentary photography where his interests lie in social commentary and world issues such as the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.

Nick Grigg was previously in the air force and trained and worked as a military photographer. This included working in the special projects department which was responsible for producing advertising and public relations images.
